Sprague Gibbons has always had a specialism in recruitment communications, dating back to the heady days of RAA Sprague Gibbons, when it wasn’t uncommon for clients to ask for a half-page ad in the Sunday Times at an eye-watering cost of £52,000.

Nowadays, not surprisingly, it’s pretty much all digital. The initial obsession with low cost or free jobsites has passed, and now the challenge is to create an effective strategy for a role, set of roles, or for a company overall.

It might be a simple matter of identifying the right media – which can still encompass on and offline platforms – and writing killer copy that sells the opportunity.

But more often than not, clients come to us when they have a tricky brief. A Health Trust that needs to attract more nurses to move to their area and work them, for example; or a law firm that needs more qualified lawyers in a specialist area; an executive search firm looking for a NED with particular experience; or an IT firm with a shortage of niche programming talent.

And we do love a challenge. Our solutions can involve anything from a brand rethink to creating positive messaging around their core proposition; to creating a campaign microsite with or without ATS; to highly targeted social, online or mobile ad campaigns.

Occasionally, it can even involve a cheeky printed ad – because in some print media, where the readership is still high, a traditional ad in amongst good content stands out better than a listing ad in amongst hundreds of others on a busy jobs listings site.

And don’t laugh, but some of us are old enough to remember radio ad campaigns, bus ads, and outdoor campaigns, and sometimes that’s just what the recruitment challenge demands.

Most importantly, though, our talented, highly experienced team works hard to give all of our – large and small – clients a truly responsive and collaborative service, which is why some of our clients have been with us since the very beginning.
